The Festa del Redentore is a celebratory event help in Venice, Italy every third Sunday of July where the fireworks display plays an important role in the celebrations!
The Redentore originally began as a Feast - to give thanks for the end of the plague of 1576 which claimed 50,000 people. Preparations for the modern day festivities begin early on Saturday, where Venetians will begin to decorate their boats or roof top terraces where they can admire the evenings fireworks. At sunset, Saint Mark's basin begins to fill with boats adorned with their decorations & garlands while thousands of Venetians wait for the fireworks while soaking up the atmosphere and dining with friends and family.
The fireworks start around 10pm and last for 45 - 60 minutes, during this time the Venice skyline is illuminated by the colours and sparkles while visitors and locals alike are dazzled by the emotional and atmospheric display that lights up the night sky.
