East Sussex is said to have experienced 1,000 lightning strikes in an hour. UK Power Networks were unable to specify how many homes were affected but said "several thousand" homes did experience intermittent power cuts.

We were all tucked up in bed blown away by what our automated cameras were capturing through the night.
